The mono pod I'm using has play to the bottom extension so I Adjust it above the subject that I shoot and push it down to the shooting level. Other times I lay it at an angle and it helps me stabilize more.

The speed will come with practice Pat, took me a while to get the hang of it.

I dont have a monopod, but will get one at some stage.
How do you go when shooting things at different heights, do you adjust the height between shots, or just lay it down at an angle to suit each shot ?

More stinkin' flies.......

These were taken with the Nikon 105VR, fitted with a copy of Scott's foam diffuser for the onboard flash.

Excellent photos. I guess the diffuser is helping a little bit...

I am out at work but brought my camera, unfortunately I don't have a laptop with me so here is a photo of the screen on my D800e lol
I have another week of snapping some photos after work and look forward to posting them when I am back home.

Yes, the diffuser makes quite a difference. Looks rough, but works good.

Looking forward to seeing your latest photos when you get back to civilisation. :)

Some great shots on here! My wife went to sit on an old lawn chair and saw this feller before sitting down. So I asked her to let me try to get some shots before she shared the chair with it. I played with f/stops and the onboard flash for a few minutes and came up with these.
