9-13-13:
Instead of posting the opportunistic feline photo, I will concede to the dog people of the world and post an opportunistic canine candid. After a crazy day at work and a meeting at the end of the day which lasted until 4 p.m. (when normal end of the workday is 3:15 p.m.), and a tour of grocery shopping duty, I got home. When I sat down, Jenny, our Lab, was very curious about where I had been and who I had been around. She gave my pant legs a thorough sniff down.

9-14-13: Part 1
I had a few minutes to wander around downtown Binghamton today before meeting a friend and co-worker for lunch at one of the best cafés around. I walked down to the Chenango River and got a few images before lunch.
The first two photos are of part of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Promenade that is down along the Chenango River. I just liked the geometry of this image.

Below is the same lattice work as in the photo above, but as viewed up close and personal. I converted it to B&W, although it was almost monochrome due to the overcast sky.

The photo below is the back view of one of the older apartment buildings that is along the western back of the Chenango River.

One last photo that I forgot to post originally: the Hunger U truck, from Iowa.

After lunch, when I was driving home, I saw this young buck in someone's side yard. He was just munching away, totally oblivious to me. I watched him for several minutes, taking photos during that time. I even made all sorts of noises to see if he would run. Nope, he would just look at me dumbly. I think once deer season starts, this guy will be culled from the population. Spousal Unit said this guy will only survive by dumb luck. I agree.

HaHa! He's 7 miles out of town at this point. The only thing that will save him is if he stays close to someone's house... maybe.
We actually have an 8-point buck that lives right around here. He sleeps under people's bushes right by their houses. That guy is smart.

Thank you. I love the swirls photo, too. It almost has a fractal feel. All I did was crop a little off the bottom.

I finished these socks as part of a Knit Along project on the fiber arts forum, Ravelry. One thing I have found is that photographing the texture and stitch patterns of articles made with natural white wool is not as easy as one would think. I always get the best results when I take the item outside and photograph it in natural light. When I use flash, all the stitch (pattern) definition disappears. This photo was taken outside late this afternoon.
Diamond Gansey Socks
I finished these socks as part of a Knit Along project on the fiber arts forum, Ravelry. One thing I have found is that photographing the texture and stitch patterns of articles made with natural white wool is not as easy as one would think. I always get the best results when I take the item outside and photograph it in natural light. When I use flash, all the stitch (pattern) definition disappears. This photo was taken outside late this afternoon.

Thanks. For some reason, I always get the best images of my knitting, especially true color of the yarn, when I put on the bench.

Flash can very easy wash out texture detail... especially in white!! Natural light appears to be the best and it sure worked on this one for you! Nice Job..

Pat, thanks. That is so true about flash. My photos of the socks came out absolutely flat with flash. No good detail no matter what I did in post processing. Just taking the socks outside and snapping a few in available light made all the difference in the world. Photographing white socks with texture is not something I do every day so, at first, forgot about how flat flash makes white objects like that.

Today is just one of those drab, dreary, overcast days, so my attitude about taking any photos was about the same as the day. I did manage to get a few images of some pale purple flowers that are all over the place around here. They are about 2.5" in diameter. I have no idea what they actually are, but they are pretty, and, of course, my favorite color.
