Awesome spinning wheel fix! Great shots my friend! :D
8-27-13:

Spousal unit finally finished making the replacement flyer for my spinning wheel. Gary made it out of a solid piece of oak, unlike the original which was made from laminated wood. I used it this afternoon and my wheel works better than with the original flyer. No wobble or falling off. Below are a few photos of my new flyer. For those of you who may not be familiar with the components of a spinning wheel, the flyer is the U-shaped piece with all the cup hooks on it. It's the piece that guides the yarn onto the bobbin.

Of course, I could not let the day go by without the obligatory squirrel at the bird feeder photo. :) This is one tenacious squirrel that does not give up quickly.

I always wonder, what or who died. It was weird to see them all just fly over to the woods. I would have gone into the woods to see where they roosted, but the sky was ready to open up.

I true friend is one who will help YOU hide a body...
Yup, and help have a way to dispose of it without a trace. :) These vultures stripped a deer in less than 3 days, then the coyotes and other scavengers took what was left over. In less than a week, all traces of the deer were gone from the woods. Nature can be really amazing.

Do we need to have someone come by and check to see if the spousal unit is still ok?

A couple of photos that I took this morning.

We get a lot of these webs on the lawn in the morning. They are made by funnel weaver spiders. This web is covered with a lot of dew so it was easy to see and photograph.

While spousal unit was at a doctor's appointment, I decided to stake out the stone embankment next to the parking lot. The last time I was there, I saw a chipmunk in residence among the rocks. I had the wrong lens that time. This time I had the trusty 55-200 mm non-VR zoom and was able to capture a few images of the little guy.

While he was on his way back to his nest with cheeks full of seeds, the chipmunk stopped for about 30 seconds, then scurried off into the rocks behind him.

Maybe If I Don't Move...

A few minutes later, he popped his head out from behind the rocks, just stared at me, then went back behind the rocks. I didn't see him again.

Today was one of those days between yard work and major thunderstorms, I really did not get much of a chance to get out and take any photos. After the last thunderstorm, while the sky was still so dark and gloomy, I did manage to get this one image of one of our neighborhood rabbits. It was so dark that I had to use flash so it ended up making the rabbit have demon eyeballs.

Okay, I have been waiting all summer for this guy to make an appearance. Last year, this grey heron would be at the pond down the road every day, just about all day long. This year, I had not seen him once, until this afternoon when I was driving by the pond. It figures, I had the wrong lens, th 18-55 instead of the 55-200. Oh,well. I did crop it as best I could so here are to okay photos of the elusive heron.

Great catch. The reflection in the water of the bird is great.

9-2-13: Part 1: Chickadees

While eating breakfast this morning, I heard a lot of bird chatter at the bird feeder this morning so I went to take a look. Yup, the nuthatches and chickadees were having a field day at the feeder.

9-2-13: Nuthatch

Nuthatches are such entertaining birds. We have 2 or 3 nuthatches that visit the feeder multiple times a day. This was this morning's visitation.

Today was a crazy day. After being on vacation for 2 weeks, I had to go back to work and set up my classroom. Of course, they never said what changes were going to be made until we all came back. By the time I got home this afternoon, I was so beat, I almost forgot to get at least one photo. Okay, so here it is. It is that long stringy succulent with air roots I have hanging in the window. At least it's not the opportunistic feline photo. That's probably tomorrow. :)
