Just one comment on this bird picture Jeff. I like it but when I try to concentrate on the bird, my eyes still want to wander to the right upper corner where the ripples are. Try cloning them out just to see if it wouldn't improve the shot.

I will let you look at both of them and decide for yourself which one is better. See what you think, did it help or not?

I prefer this version. I find my eyes stay on the bird and it's reflection more than the other version.

I don't remember how far away this bird was but I have taken pictures of seagulls flying as close as about three feet away from me. It is a challenge because they move fast and getting them in focus is not easy.

I went out today with my Nikon D600, Nikon 70-200mm F2.8 lens and a Nikon TC-20E III AF-S 2X Teleconverter on it and took this picture . Then I cropped out the second picture from the original. Just thought I would let you see how well it held up.

With that dark blue background it looks like you got him to pose in the studio for the photo.

We get maybe a dozen Egrets up here. So, seeing them is great.
