And as for Color Efex Pro, I've been a fan since I first saw it demonstrated at the PhotoPlus Expo in NYC last October. I've been a vocal fan of the Nik tools and Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro and HDR Efex Pro are just about indispensable in my toolkit.

Love your stuff Jake.

I take pics of an abandonded building and there is graffiti everywhere. You do it and it's the other end of the spectrum. How far from NYC do you live?

Funny what you can find when you stare past things. I've been past this place a thousand times and never noticed. 8 months a year green is in the way. The rest of the time it's just me. Didn't quite have the stones to go inside - there were some drums behind me, so I didn't quite like the idea of what that might mean. Then I went around the building and there were LOTS of them.

I like it. It's a part of history that we lose otherwise. Just because it is not "pretty," does not mean it does not have merit or is not interesting. Many times, that stuff is more interesting than all the pretty stuff. Don't apologize.

Pretty is in the eye of the beholder. I think yours qualifies. There are several 365s I really don't look at anymore just because they are pretty, but nothing else. That does not interest me. What you are shooting really does interest me. I enjoy them. That is about the highest praise I can give any photographer.

The apology was rather tongue in cheek. But as I was posting I noticed that ever since I gave you deer carcasses and abandoned shoes this thread has been nothing but rainy days and decay. I'm glad others find the subject as interesting as I do. There's something about the idea of "lived in" that I love - the idea that while it's dead now, life once coursed through it at full speed and we're left to deduce what that was like from the shadows.

You never know. There was a concrete wall 10 feet to the left that had a peace sign, another mushroom, and lots of random garbage, so you never know if they just got lucky, or someone decided just to concentrate on the box. Regardless, I suspect it was part of the high school population that is frequently roaming the town at night. Not bad kids, just bored silly, probably. I just wish they'd pick up their empties. We did at there age - though I can't precisely tell you what drove us to do it. LOL

I especially liked the track shots..

Pat in NH

Thanks, Pat. They used to provide rail service for an old lumberyard and an Alcoa plant, but both have since shut down. I believe the tracks end not too far around the bend in the photo. Haven't followed them all the way yet, but I've been on the remains of the tressel about 1/2 mile beyond that point and the tracks are long gone.
