I figured I'd start a new thread for my northern images.

The sun broke through today and the snow is melting quickly now. Hopefully spring is finally arrived. This was shot on the banks of the Yellowstone River.

Keep em coming Dave. I'll be heading back in SoCal before July for my retirement. I'll stay there in the mean time while I look for another job after my retirement.

Nice shot. So, what's it like to shoot in cold weather?

It's not too bad, at least as long as it's above zero. Those -20 degrees days are another story altogether!

This is the northern most section of the Beartooth mountain range. The highway that leads to the northeastern entrance to Yellowstone park, highway 212, closes just below Red Lodge. This is the view you get looking south when you walk up about a mile and a half above where the road is closed.

It was cloudy so the color version it's all that inspiring but I came back after the clouds went away and took this one.

On this particular subject I like the B&W. It might even work in a VERY pale sepia. Give it an antique look.

I agree with Don. Both versions are nice, but I like the B/W better.

and I prefer the colour, although both are good I think it's more important what YOU prefer most because you take the shots for YOU not everyone else It's all about personal taste

The Black and White just seems more fitting for the location....great shots

school in color w/o the sun. Others b & w. Color just looks "off" imo.
