for some reason i was expecting your answer to be Canons or Canon forums jdeg:D

have you seen them on a tripod, i have a photo somewhere on my laptop of this, looks real strange, plus some of their protective cases leave a lot to be desired.

Yep, a guy at the wrestling tournaments has one on tripod and sends the video to a wireless device and uploads so the parents can watch from work or home. Its actually pretty cool, but I made the mistake and asked him about his setup, well I almost missed my sons match listening to all the techno jargon. His setup was pretty cool and I understand video, but it does look funny taking pictures with it.

Why would anyone give a damn what OTHER PEOPLE use to take pictures?
Because it's funny to joke about

Saw a guy at my sons hockey game a few weeks back, had his galaxy S3 beside him and held up his ipad to take at least a 10 minute video.... his S3 is perfectly capable. Maybe the battery was low on the S3, who knows, but yes, he looked goofy doing so :)

Words are so powerful . . . especially "hate" . . . I try to keep it out of my vocabulary. Too much hate in the world as it is. But that's just me.

If they're not blocking my view, I don't care what they're using or how stupid they look. Who knows, maybe they think I look stupid with a big DSLR when I could be using an iPhone.

Hate is a wasted emotion, it will eat you up if you let it!

Makes me wonder what the Nokia people with the 40mp phone will be joking about the poor little Nikon DSLRs.
Humor is the most subtle form of prejudice there is. Every prejudiced person started out laughing at an apparently innocent joke.
How long does it take before the joke starts out as...
I saw this idiot at my sons hocky game a few weeks back...
But thats just me.

You're right, 'hate' is the wrong word. I should've said 'you know what I find really ridiculous & annoying?', but for some reason an old Mad TV bit was in my head. Maybe I should've been thinking Family Guy "you know what grinds my gears..." :)

However, I was at the Zoo the other day, and a bunch of people were crowded around an area looking at some kind of cat, and someone was there blocking people's and my view with an iPad while trying to take a picture that wouldn't come out anyway (not nearly enough light). I just sighed, and moved on.

I AGREE! Drives me crazy! Not sure why but the need to hold phones, iPads out at arms length and swing it as far left and right as much as possible or as high as they can in front of those behind! If they'd hold it up right in front of them and take a picture like any other person with a camera it'd be just fine but the arm swinging and brightly lit screens in a dark area is so irritating! For my kids school play I got there early, sat right up front with my camera, set it all up for no flash and had 2 people push in beside me last minute pull out phones hold them out as far as they could and swing their arms as much as possible!! Apparently their wrists don't turn.... nothing like getting all ready for a shot of your kids only to have a phone pop in front of you and ruin it Grrrr

It's not the ipads/phones its the lack of manners really that bothers me

I really hate people who use the word hate

I don't hate your humor, Don. ;)

I second that! After having my son's band performances blocked by iPads, other tablets and what-nots over the last two years. I told my wife that I'm coming to the next performance with a straw and plenty of spitballs to launch at such screens that are held in my way. Some people just have no manners at all and need to be taught a lesson!!

Many, Many, Many years ago I shot weddings. After I shot a few and discovered people would get their cameras out and want to shot just one since I had it all set up. After three or four time this would happen The bride and her mother would tell my I needed to hurry up because the people were waiting at the reception. I finally set it up in my contract that there would be no cameras other than mine till I got through with all I was going to shoot. I always had an assistant with me that would enforce the camera ban. She would tell them politely that they needed to wait till I was through before they could take any pictures. She would then stand in front of them till they got the idea.

Some people think only of themselves and what they need. I really don't think they are rude but just are not thinking.

And Whiskeyman......What sense of humor?
