Day 77

Evening. Looks like a cartoon moon in the second, but was just a lamp.

Day 78

Tried some macro of candy but it looked a bit of.. Luckily I got a poster too.

Day 79

Omg!! Went to workshop today, that was amazing! We all did some background images but since we all used the same on (on of the others), I am showing these beach ones too.

A straight one to calm you down again :D

And then the omg pic!

At first I thought.. wauw, sounds pretty easy (don't get me wrong, not easy-peasy, but less difficult than I assumed). Boy, was I wrong lol. Took HOURS to do this image.

It is a background, which we shot first (the tunnel). We needed to look closely to where the light hit.

Next (after a walk to the beach), we went to the conference room again and did the model shots. NO BACKDROP. Just mess. First the boy (he did so good!), then the guy.

And then.... selection and refine tools and a lot of masking, to cut the 2 boys out.
Placing them on the background image.

A lot of refine edges - with burn tool and more editing of the masks.

Then adding the shadows drawing with a black brush and on top of that, a layer mask to tone the black color down.

A layer with 50% grey on top of each of the boys, soft blend, here we added dodge and burn tool to make it look right according to the lights in the background.

.. Here we all started to get tired, lol.

Other adjustments for the boys, where levels and color balance, to make it blend better all in all.

A million times we went back to correct stuff, we really took use of layers in PS!

Yellow brush added on the highlighted parts of the boys, also some yellow added for the light in the background.

Hmm.. then I think we were almost done, last edits where tonal contrast in Nik Color Effex (which I didn't use), levels for all the layers and then, merged all layers on top -> blend mode: vivid -> filter high pass, which makes it able to see the sharpness you are adding right away.

I could do some more adjustments with this image, mostly on the guy but for now, I am pretty happy about the outcome :) Interesting if I'll ever be able to do it again lol.

I have a small firm, and even though I do people too, dog photographing is what I love most. But tough crowd sometimes.. getting jobs, I mean.

That dog take awesome pictures lol.
I bet the dogs are easier than their owners. :D

GREAT zoo shots! The standouts, for me, are the flamingos and the 2nd monkey shot. Love, love, LOVE catching pics at the zoo!!

We don't get massive wave on my side (East) of the UK either - Just over the sea from you!
The best waves near us are the Atlantic coast, so west UK, or even better - The bay of Biscay in France... I remember visiting there as a child and swimming in the sea was difficult! I hope to return with my camera soon!

There's a lot to be said for falling behind on following a thread …
Catching up is worth it.
Like making up after breaking up … ;)

Wow. Love your sommeling-style shots!
You got the same awesome light/shadow thing going as he does, and it just looks so cool. Good work!
The zoo shots are great as well :)

Ah yeah, you are from this end of the world :) My friend just mailed me some images she took from northern England, sooo pretty. I've been to Ireland one time, LOVED the landscapes there.

The shadows were what I was most interested in, without those, the image will just never work, I think.. Of course I am no where near satisfied but its pretty challenging, so just gotta keep practicing.

Day 82 - helping a friend with some shots of her kids room in her apartment (for a website for renting out apartments for people going on vacation). Only done with the girls room, boy will have to wait for tomorrow.

Re: Wud's project 365

I used flash in umbrella but it made the windows look matte and also you could see the reflection, so I took 2 images just after each other, as fast as my camera could (handheld) so the second image was underexposed/without flash/with nice looking glass in the windows - and in PS I masked the windows, so the under exposed image showed, only there.

Pretty clever, if I should say it myself lol. Just a bit annoying with the plants ;) Other than that, its just a bit brighten and saturation.
