Day 77
Evening. Looks like a cartoon moon in the second, but was just a lamp.
Day 78
Tried some macro of candy but it looked a bit of.. Luckily I got a poster too.
Day 79
Omg!! Went to workshop today, that was amazing! We all did some background images but since we all used the same on (on of the others), I am showing these beach ones too.
A straight one to calm you down again
And then the omg pic!
At first I thought.. wauw, sounds pretty easy (don't get me wrong, not easy-peasy, but less difficult than I assumed). Boy, was I wrong lol. Took HOURS to do this image.
It is a background, which we shot first (the tunnel). We needed to look closely to where the light hit.
Next (after a walk to the beach), we went to the conference room again and did the model shots. NO BACKDROP. Just mess. First the boy (he did so good!), then the guy.
And then.... selection and refine tools and a lot of masking, to cut the 2 boys out.
Placing them on the background image.
A lot of refine edges - with burn tool and more editing of the masks.
Then adding the shadows drawing with a black brush and on top of that, a layer mask to tone the black color down.
A layer with 50% grey on top of each of the boys, soft blend, here we added dodge and burn tool to make it look right according to the lights in the background.
.. Here we all started to get tired, lol.
Other adjustments for the boys, where levels and color balance, to make it blend better all in all.
A million times we went back to correct stuff, we really took use of layers in PS!
Yellow brush added on the highlighted parts of the boys, also some yellow added for the light in the background.
Hmm.. then I think we were almost done, last edits where tonal contrast in Nik Color Effex (which I didn't use), levels for all the layers and then, merged all layers on top -> blend mode: vivid -> filter high pass, which makes it able to see the sharpness you are adding right away.
I could do some more adjustments with this image, mostly on the guy but for now, I am pretty happy about the outcome
Interesting if I'll ever be able to do it again lol.
Sommeling were an amazing teacher, everybody was really nice, the hotel were superb and the food, coffee and cake were yummi. I am SOOOO happy I went!
Love the picture Mai!
