A Crow took this crawdad away from a gull who had stolen it from a Merganser who caught it in the first place. Thievery is very common in the bird world.

I had no idea crows were carnivorous but sadly found out when they raided birds' nests nearby. I found a couple of newborn baby birds in my yard – both having been killed. One was left in the bird bath. :mad: I guess it is part of their nature, but what a terrible way to find out.

These are fantastic Woody! How are you able to get so close? Are you using a teleconverter? The ducks at our local lake take off as soon as you get anywhere near. Sometimes when I get out of the car.
Thanks, Robin. No TC, but a lot of time standing or sitting quietly. The ducks move away when I arrive, but slowly get used to me. There are enough people in the area that hey are somewhat used to human presence, too.
