There is a tree where this owl often hangs out and sleeps the daylight hours away. (Don't ask, I won't tell you where it is 
) A couple of days ago I sat quietly near the tree and watched as it very occasionally opened an eye to check on things. A noise nearby caused the bird to briefly open both eyes. It then looked over at me as if to ask, "why people can't just be quiet and let an owl sleep?"

That awkward age when they are too big for the nest, but too young to fly and take care of themselves.
ie: Freeloaders. I'm familiar.
