New (to me) owl nest. This little fellow was being brave and got up on the ledge of the nest while the siblings were sound asleep. Two days later they had all branched.

Yesterday I was watching and photographing at a local pond with quite a few Avocets. A hawk buzzed them and they were off the water in a fraction of a second and flying around in formation. Best viewed large. (Note: The one on the top left of the picture appears to be melanistic, with extra black pigmentation. )

Wow!! That is what I call a "heard of birds". Nice one.
