This morning on the far eastern end of Colorado I was fortunate to photograph the mating rituals of Greater Parairie Chickens. Males engage in fighting on their breeding grounds with a great deal of display and flourish. They hope to win the hearts of the local females, of course​

That prairie chicken shot is phenomenal! How far were you from them, Woodie?

Thanks! I am notoriously bad at judging distances, but I would guess maybe 20-25 meters. We were using cars and blinds (or hides as many people also call them) and they came fairly close at times.

Meters? Did you move to the US from another country, Woody? It's so unusual for someone from here to use metric distances although metric seems to be the standard everywhere else in the world.

Having a background in science, and also being an old track coach, I have used the metric system quite a bit. It makes WAY more sense than the English system.
