As long as it doesn't mess with it and my Linux partition, it will be fine. Trying to fix iTunes on a Windows machine is a PIA.

I would wait a couple of days and first check how well it went for the rest. It's rarely a smooth transition. Software might no longer work, drivers need to be updated... It can be hell if things go wrong.

It'll be like a fresh install i imagine. Great to get rid of any viruses etc, but if you've ever done one, they're a real pita

I tried to get the beta W 10 installed yesterday and it reverted back to my old version (8.1) of Windows due to an error on installing it. It was in boot phase 1 and I'm not sure what exactly screwed me up. It did revert back and I tried to install it again but no dice. I went ahead and reserved my download for 10, and I just hope it installs correctly next time. Everything back up and running, but damn it took a long time to download the 3.5 GB of Windows bloat.

All my software works. Nothing was broken. I am on my 3rd of 4th beta version of Win 10. I did have 1 update that did fail and it automatically reverted back to the previous version.

I got lucky today and downloaded my preview copy of Windows. It says it is build # 10074 Home Insider Preview. Is that what you are running Don Kuykendall?

Yep.

I think the final will be cleaned up a bit with nicer looking icons.

I'm still using 7; maybe they felt sorry for me and sent me the update.

So am I. Ha! Win7 on the laptop. Vista on a hand-me-down desktop and Ubuntu 14 on another desktop (also a Hand-Me-Down) My Sister-in-law gives me her broken boxes. I fix them and use them. Ha!

I'm so far out in the desert that I guess the smoke signals from my ISP, WigWamSmokeSignals, hasn't gotten here yet.

While running Windows updater, got an offer yesterday that stated this machine (desktop w/7) can be upgraded. Once reserved, it sounds like they will download 10 whenever and then we are allowed up to 1 year to implement.

The old laptop runs 7 and the new laptop runs 8.1. Neither of those were made this offer yet while running Windows updater. Who knows what their procedures will be.

Yes....and I noticed I can't set mine to hibernate or sleep....totally goes off...same for you?

I have not had that problem. Mine sleeps just fine. Have not really checked what mode I have it is though. May just be the monitor shutting off. On different computer right now but will check next time I am on the laptop
