Why are my images ADVERTISING for CORKBOARD.com??????

Rick I know you print a running ton of digital photos... what do you see? Can you make a great 8 X 10 from a say 400 X 600 jpeg?

Jeff I think what we are talking about here is DPI more than file size. But if you lower your DPI your file size is going to follow. I have to played around with some of my own prints see at what point a print loses quality but still look good on the WEB. You be the judge, you lose quality fast after 150 it looks like.

My software is locked out to even me at work so all I can see is the photo and the file name. Also I can not download any file to any kind of storage device. The only way for me to see file size would be to take some random customer files and burn them to a CD and load them into Lightroom or Photoshop to look at EXIF and DPI. However this is an unethical thing to do and not is going to happen.

I see a lot of cell phone camera photos come though that look like crap, and I've seen a lot of I-phone photo's come through that look jaw dropping at 4 x 6. So my best guess is it all goes back to Mega pixels which would be DPI.

If they are going to get one of my photos they are going to get it there is nothing I can do to stop it with out ruining a photo for the web. Outside of what I post here I know what I have posted elsewhere and once a month check up on them using Goggle search.

72 dpi is perfect for viewing on the web. My uploads are limited to 72dpi. My usual file size is 500kbs and under.

You can't get a good quality print with that....but for just viewing here on forums its great.

Oh...and I use Tapatalk a ton and can download any image straight to my phone no if ands or buts. As stated before. If someone wants your image....they will get it. Period. Its just how it is now. There isn't really much you can do to stop it. Only limit what the person can do after they stole it.

Yep, sounds like what I need to do. Just don't have the tools for watermarks yet, so I will limit what I post. I post mostly my kids playing sports, so I prefer to have some sort of privacy.

I just never realized how easy it was on here.

Mine was set to "NO" and I've changed it to "YES". I didn't realize that this helps out the site. You are welcome to any of my posts to further the success of this site.

Thanks Ted. I was actually testing with your account a little which is why it was set to no.

Art I've already set yours to no as well.

Note that the photo upload policy has also changed. I will be making that more visible since right now it is only linked to from the photo gallery upload page

I also made sure mine was set to yes. It is a small price to pay for a great forum. WE all know that there are some Nikon Forums that charge just to be a member and they are not near as good as this one.

I have won quite a bit of Nikonites "gear" in weekly challenges, I think it's the least to do.

I also saw an ad / post promoting Nikonites on Facebook and one of my images was the photo. Facebook is how I found my way here and John you can use any of my images you want to promote the site, I been "paid" so to speak in gear. :greedy_dollars:

As long as my watermark (which is my website) is not removed I want my pics shared everywhere. It's free advertising for me. If I ever think i have a really great shot worth a lot, I won't post it or at 72 dpi. People printing a crappy 8x10 would never have bought it anyway. Those that really like your work will pay for a high quality print (in my opinion).
