HOLI COLORS !!!
Yesterday, in India we celebrate HOLI - A Festival of Colors
It celebrates the beginning of the new season, spring.
Originally, it was a festival that commemorated good harvests and the fertile land.
It is a time of enjoying spring's abundant colors and saying farewell to winter.
It is probably one of the most exhilarating ones in existence. People hold bonfires, throw colored powder at each other, and celebrate wildly![]()
What? And no self-portraits of you dressed in colored powder?
Nice shot of some beautifully bright colors.

We were driving around when this spot took my breath away.
It was so beautiful, i just stood there for a minute enthralled by the beauty & artistry of nature.
I just hoped i could do some justice with this capture...
great shot. Now you must tell us about the title. "Appearances ARE Deceptive"

Do you even have to ask ::what::
They are just plain crooks... They sit like vultures outside Nepal's most famous temples just to fleece tourists especially foreigners...
Below the bench they are sitting on, they have a complete make up kit to convert them to men of god![]()

Posted a B/W version of this image in the B&W section...
This was taken from the top of one of the mounds that you see here..
Very funny angle i had to perch on so i could frame this...
'Stupas' is a very rough translation cos the word Stupas has more of a Buddhist touch to it, whereas this was a Hindu temple..
It basically refers to the top mound of the construction.. You will see these in most ancient temples all over the planet...
(Sorry Marilynne, i did not realize i had named it without an explanation in the other thread)

I like it when you explain the customs and things about India. When I had a Indian staff I learned so much about your country. The funniest thing was how crazy the Indian people are about candy. OR at least the ones I talked to were.
Thanks dmcNormally I would lean toward the B&W but dude, the colour shot is just beautiful. Thanks for this.
