HIMALAYAS - UP CLOSE & PERSONAL Series: 06

Well, time to unveil the emperor of emperors, king of kings, the greatest of them all.............

MOUNT EVEREST !!!

If by any chance you've had any trouble identifying which peak it is... it's the darker lonely peak, taller than the rest, standing majestically with a bit of cloud crown... :)

What was your distance, elevation, and lens?

Worth risking it for this view...

There actually are 7 other peaks around this peak that is seen here.
The cloud cover was so dense, it seems like just one lonely mountain.

Well now don't go all techy on me :p
I was in a small plane... circling around the mountain range..
I had my D5100 with 70-300 VR.. And a damn window in between :p
Sorry, i have no clue about the distance & elevation :)

That works. I was wondering how you pulled off those spectacular shots.

ROOMS AVAILABLE !

DSC_4919_WLP.jpg

This was the hotel WE stayed in where i clicked the snaps you saw earlier. The one with the spectacular view of the mountains.
Rooms with the best view :)
If ever anyone gets a chance to go to Nepal, this place is called Pokhara.. An extremely silent, peaceful & beautiful place & this is the best hotel there

The worries of life & the joys of childhood

What a great photo and title.
Love the framing with space for the gaze.
I would have probably cropped it just inside the leaves (which would be a mistake).
That's one of the great things about this forum, you experts teach us amateurs so much, without even knowing it apart from the occasional "like".

Thanks for the very kind compliments rexer, but I humbly disagree about being an expert! I picked up my first camera and shot my first pic only last year in February for the very first time.
So I may just have been getting lucky with my shots ;-)

We were driving around when this spot took my breath away.
It was so beautiful, i just stood there for a minute enthralled by the beauty & artistry of nature.
I just hoped i could do some justice with this capture...

Snow White
Very lovely scene . . . I can see why it took your breath away. Excellent capture and you certainly did the scene "justice."

Looking at your photos is giving me travel fever . . . sigh

HOLI COLORS !!!

20121126-DSC_5603_WLP.jpg

Yesterday, in India we celebrate HOLI - A Festival of Colors
It celebrates the beginning of the new season, spring.
Originally, it was a festival that commemorated good harvests and the fertile land.
It is a time of enjoying spring's abundant colors and saying farewell to winter.
It is probably one of the most exhilarating ones in existence. People hold bonfires, throw colored powder at each other, and celebrate wildly :)
