Such a photographically frustrating day!!

I've got to reassess my entire procedure and setup. Over 100 shots of birds using the D90 and 300 mm (manual focus), and there wasn't a single one that was in focus. They looked ok in the viewfinder, and the focus indicator in the viewfinder was illuminated, but not a single one of them was in focus.

Been there! Check the aperture you were using.

I made plans to revisit an earlier shot this evening, but it required a visible sun for the sunset. What we had instead was a solid, horizon-to-horizon, overcast.

Then, I went home and set up for bird shots, but the birds didn't get the word.:(

So, I've gone macro, or should I say micro, for the shot today.

Is this a Quarter? I gotta find one of those!

52 is kind of cool looking, need try something like this. Also the landscape looks better of the pier

Thanks, Kevin. I shot it at ISO 200, 15 sec, f22. If I were to do it again, I'd lower my ISO as low as I could and increase my exposure time, as well as making sure that the exposure were started when there were no vehicles in the field of view. I would also move to where the divided highway sign weren't so prominent, even though I left it in the shot that day because I wasn't having any success with my bird shots and it showed and I was upset with myself. I also kept the light from oncoming traffic out of the frame because they were washing out the exposure on the left side.

Have fun with this. I'm definitely going to try this again, both with a sunset and after twilight is over.

Cold and wet describes our weather, and part of this description applies to this critter, and although I dislike them running the birds off, it is my daily shot.

The camelias are "busting out" all over my neighborhood, and I believe I'll revisit them soon. Hopefully, I can create what I envision.

Strawberries are starting to come into season, so...

A strawberry slice on sharp cheddar on a Ritz cracker! Soooo good. :D

Made it home prior to sundown today, noticing lots of haze and dust near in the lower atmosphere.

And for something a little more serene.

I wish I'd had my tripod so that I could have bracketed shots for HDR processing, but I didn't.

Saw this hawk on the wire while driving today. Pulled over and started getting closer...

Nikonites-59-2.jpg

Which , while not nearly close enough for me, was too close for the hawk. Hence, the requisite bird butt photo; this time a flying one.

Nikonites-59-3.jpg

Well it didn't go far, so I started getting closer again. This time, I didn't get get as close as I had earlier before the bird headed into the woods.

My hawk ID is horrible, so if anyone can ID this one, I'd like to know.

PS, I know the pink flower isn't a hawk. I added it by mistake, although I did take the shot this AM.
