Which To Print

Since you have two photos, you do have the option to merge them together. I did a quick edit by starting with the original then extended the bottom of the canvas. Then I cropped the second photo by selecting the bottom part with the walkway and grass, then pasted it onto the extended canvas of the first image. It took a little work to blend the sidewalk area, but it should work if you try it. They didn't quite line up as you can tell from your watermark so I had to use the healing brush to copy some of the grass and asphalt on the lower right hand side.

From here the image can be cropped lengthwise to add a little more to the bottom.

Very interesting Hark. Could you please explain to me how you merged the two photos? I can't seem to get the hang of it. I'm going to fiddle around with your idea and see if I can come up with a balance that would be good for the size of print I decide on. . I'm wondering just what the right amount of asphalt would look just right in proportion to the tree. I just wish I had brought a different lens so I could have gotten the entire tree. Darn!

Nicely done..Would you mind telling me how you went about toning it down, I'd like to experiment with it a bit...Thanks!

I don't use PS much unless I'm at the college. For day-to-day, I use FastStone and for this, used the color controls to drop the blue about 10% and add a few points of brightness and contrast.

I use a Mac. I don't think FastStone works with it. Any alternates?

I have a series of the photo with lighthouse and boat...I'm wondering if any of the others are a better candidate for printing...

All the previous versions of this photo have a blueish cast. I used NIK plugins in Photoshop to deal with this.

- Contrast Pro filter: removed the cast and increased contrast slightly
- Polariser: enhanced the cloud ever so lightly
- Skylight: to warm up the image

Then I cropped it to what my instincts tell me.

But this is only my own personal interpretation. Don't worry too much about it if you don't like it.

Certainly, there is scope for further enhancement, but it would require the original RAW file. When I tried to enhance the sky more I got strong banding:

OK..I took the photo and cropped it and reduced the blue in LR and this is the result...I tried using NIK and could not find anything I cared for. Topaz didn't have what I wanted either..
