I went back to it and cropped it some more - which do you think is better Scott Murray ?

I think it's cropped too much also Lawrence. The insect needs to be a bit more to the left of the frame, and you need to give him back all his legs (my opinion only).

Great shot by the way, I quite liked it beside the flower :)

Good looking stuff :-D

I think the face of the model on the couch suits her very well, don't know why you would want her to smile?

I spent some time this afternoon baiting ants with sugar. Had a lot of fun but never managed to get a whole ant in focus. Either the head or the bum but not the whole.
Just as I was packing up Inoticed this tiny little white insect walking about. He must have been less that 1/4 size of the ants (but didn't move as fast!)

I am continually amazed at how every insect seems to have little hairs all over their body and this little guy was no exception.

This is a very big crop. The difference between this and what LR and PS call 100% is bugger all.

Ugly little fellow just doing his thing. :)

Here is one of the ants. Pretty bleak but these guys move so fast.

And this photo clearly shows why a second diffuser would be handy. I learn something new every day.

And another ant.

Just love the gap between the main body and the head. Weird looking things when you look this closely.

Have her face a little more toward the camera and smile. I really like the even tone of your light on your model.

It was a purely candid shot Ron.
Turned out OK.
I want to have her as a model one day when she is in the mood - you know how children can be. :)

Well, she surely has the face for it. Maybe if you tell her that you are not sure she is cut out to model, she might come around to doing it. You know how children are:)

August is macro month for me and I discovered something amazing about macro photography today from a guy (very young) who has had his photos featured hundreds of times in National Geographic.
This was my first attempt at putting it into practice.
Very pleased with this shot.
:) That's me smiling.
