What is Lawrence up to - 2015?

This next one was inspired by the macro I saw on Vixen's thread. No where near as interesting as her chain but it is a subject that I would not normally shoot.
I also got to test my Scott Murray type diffuser (extremely expensive version)

And a little weed that was growing alongside
Still waiting for the cheque to clear ;)

Graffiti

Because of this weeks competition I went in search of graffiti and came across some beautiful stuff that had been allowed and approved by the town council. I guess the theory is if you can't beat them join them - and they may do something good.

Well they did but unfortunately that wasn't enough for the vindictive taggers who have since ruined the original work. These are some of the 20 odd photos I took.

These guys have an amazing talent.

The story so far ...

I never thought I would enjoy macro but since getting my Tamron 90mm for portraiture I have almost got hooked. However I have discovered that the DOF in macro is a major challenge. Thinking it might be the lens, but hoping it was me, I have sent a few messages to some very helpful people on here, called the local Tamron agents and popped into my local camera store.

The confirmation I have is that it is ME and not the lens. Yay in a way!

In addition to all of this there has been this ongoing discussion about post processing and the Nik collection in particular. So this morning I downloaded the trial period.

The photo here is just a random thing I took this morning while trying to figure out the DOF/lens thing which I then tried to process in NIK

Blow me down! 2 clicks and it is completely changed. That software is powerful.

Well...there you go. You now know the lens is OK and it's your technique you need to work on. Going by this shot you got some pointers that have helped coz this looks fine. As for NIK....now you know why I love it :D I found I was making much the same adjustments in my bird photography every time so I made a recipe, and now 99% of the time it is open Nik and one click and we are done :D I don't usually have to make many adjustments.
For other stuff I try all sorts of things. They don't always work, and sometimes they come out fantastic :D I wouldn't ditch PS tho coz I still use layers and stuff there as well. I guess we just get used to doing stuff certain ways coz they work for us ;)

And here's another. Possibly overcooked but I wanted to try a few more of their stuff.

You can see in this photo there are areas that are in focus and very sharp, but at f4.5 the dof will be very shallow.
I am glad you have worked out your lens is fine.

I am also revisiting my NIK tools after getting lazy with my PP.
After playing around with those flower shots I put in the "Post your Flower" thread, I remember why I used to love what they bought to my photos.
Its time I started using them more often again.

I've been watching a few videos tonight and am very impressed with NIK
There is a lot to them but seem to be relatively easy to use.
I have downloaded the 15 day free trial. I will decide after that if I want it.

I also trialled it at the start, once my time was up I just paid the money, I think it was $150, cheap if you ask me. I like how you get all the updates and extra newbies for free .

You have a better eye than you give yourself credit. Trust it. Your image is your voice. Don't let anyone change what you want to say. It really does not matter what me or we think.
