No I haven't because I don't own any. I was in the market and did a bit of research (including on here) and came away confused as to what is best to buy. So that has gone on to the back burner for now.

I was trying something specific which included uneven blurring and a whole bunch of other stuff but for this image it doesn't quite work.

I think a softer approach is needed so came up with this tightly cropped version ...

I had a 9x16 version of this in the weekly challenge which I had to take down as it was in breach of the rules.
This version is a different (better in my opinion) crop.

I've had someone suggest that the dead tree should be cloned out but I like the fact that the path leads to a dead tree shrouded in mist. Makes me wonder what happened at the end of the path.
Your thoughts?

Not sure on this one. Clone it out and see what it looks like :D

I like the path. To me it is the thing that you look at when you look at this image and the tree is maybe just a bit distracting. It's not a very tree shaped dead tree, and that may be the real problem. I can't decide.

Would have not known that it was a dead tree unless you pointed it out. To me it's a distraction that this otherwise great image could do without...IMHO

I prefer the version with the dead tree. It's a nice focal point that the lines of the path lead to. To me, it's way more interesting with the tree than without. Great shot!

Seems to be two distinct schools of thought on this one.
It was the tree that attracted me to the shot. Well sort of. I suspect I saw the path and that led my eyes to the tree and the mist below it.
Either way I am happy as I needed to practice my cloning. :)

I have to say. I enjoy the shot with the tree also. Gives me a sense of ending my journey through your photo. Instead of you just leading me off into nothing.

This next one was inspired by the macro I saw on Vixen's thread. No where near as interesting as her chain but it is a subject that I would not normally shoot.
I also got to test my Scott Murray type diffuser (extremely expensive version) :)
