What gear are you looking for in 2016

Pass. My sports car passion is aroused ONLY by the 911. Audis don't do it for me. My dream machine would be either a new Turbo S or a new GT3 RS 4.0. Or, more likely, a GT2 when they release one in another couple of years.
The beast will be getting a 6 speed manual soon and will be in full race configuration (540 + hp and 0-60 in 2.7 seconds). It's not just a ZR-1 killer.

I would like to drive a Turbo S though.

For me it's about a balance of speed AND handling. Much as I respect the efforts and substantial improvements GM has made in both the Chevrolet and particularly the Cadillac brands (and I own a CTS), the car I really want to drive when not in commuter traffic is some variant of the 911. Being closer to a beggar than a chooser, I would be quite content with a base model Carrera if someone gave me one. I'm not yet ready to tame the more savage breeds of 911. Time in the Carrera would make me ready for an S model. After that, 4S, then GTS, then Turbo, then GT3, then Turbo S, then GT3 RS. I hope to get in some track time with each of them, pretty much in that sequence.

D400

Nikkor 300 f4 AF-s VR

Nikkor 20 f2.8 AF D or 20 Ais
Nikkor 85 any of the 4 avail AF models

Pretty sure I will be done after that tho a Craigslist deal on a D4 after D5 is released could always entice especially if the D400 does not get produced.

If I were still up to it I would be after the late 50s thru early 70s 356, MGB, TR6, TR250, 240Z... not near as sophisticated, but so much fun to drive.

Wish list got pretty much fulfilled last week with the purchase of a D7100 and new lenses. Looking forward to using/learning to use the new "beast". Ordered a flash - Pixel X800N Standard. I do a fair bit of indoor photography so am looking forward to see how well that works! If it's not all that it's made out to be then I will look at going with a Yongnuo 560 or 565.

Also hoping for more quality time with the grandson.

My lovely wife has just ordered me a Manfrotto 055 tripod and the kit ballhead, so looking forward to that! It'll be my first tripod, so looking forward to some new opportunities it'll open up.

I was going to get the 055 tripod, but it was not in stock, so got the Manfrotto MT190XPRO3, both good tripods.

Wish list for 2016 ... really comes down to an FX body to go along with the D7100. I could see lighting coming into play, possibly getting a couple strobes to augment the speed lights, but that would be dependent on what I actually end up shooting throughout the year. For what I've been shooting ... landscapes and portraits, the FX is the most likely want.

Of all the cars I've owned, my favorite has been the 2001 Turbo ... even though it ONLY made 415hp. I would love to get one of the current Turbo S models or the GT3 RS. I just have to have a manual transmission ... tried to like the F1 gearbox in other cars, but part of the fun with the 911 Turbo was that manual gearbox. I need to get the house paid off first, and then probably a practical car to replace my Acura, before I add a hobby car again.

105mm VR macro. 85mm prime. Better tripod. Tokina 11-16. Might be lucky enough to see the macro and the tripod by the end of the year.

150-600 would be amazing, but it's not on the short list, just a hope/wish/want.

Oh, and a Jeep to get me to all of those amazing landscape shots nobody else gets to see. ;)

105mm (Sigma, OS) arrives tomorrow, ahead of the new year. w00t! Next will be the vehicle, as my son takes over my current ride in February...

Gotta sell the ol' classic Camaro, though, if I want to be able to afford anything decent. My heart is heavy.

Seriously, find another way.

Step down on your daily driver needs really it isn't important!

Pondering a new pickup at the moment but $45k for what I want has me hunting a used model patiently from a trusted dealer vs. selling my GT convertible to fund the new truck.

Beloved vintage rides are hard to replace, don't do it!!!

Really the D7200 was ny 2016 plan. The super sale of the referbished model from Nikon put it in front of the couch we had planned... did I mention I have a great wife! I do need a new lens or two, but I will have to sell something first.

I'd just be thrilled to death to get any old base model 996 in good running shape. As long as it doesn't have an IMS bearing issue.
