Thought i would pose this question in all honesty what gives you the most pleasure, all the preparation to take a picture or the picture itself, there must be enjoyment in both parts so is it 50/50 with me i think i enjoy both parts one as much as the other.

I enjoy both the prep and taking of the picture.... I find it challenging and relaxing at the same time! Greatest satisfaction comes when the final result meets or exceeds my expectations!

Most of my photography prep is head work and not a lot of physical set-up. I don't do the indoor lighting, studio thing, so "major setup" for me involves at most tripod(s), filter(s) and remote(s). Photography for me is mostly an extension of my love of the outdoors, and I've tried to integrate it into my other outdoor activities (I'm still trying to figure out the best way to integrate a DSLR into my carry bag for my morning golf rounds - needs to be secure and quick/easy to access and stow given that I don't want to delay the play of others with/behind me). So the enjoyment comes from the moment when beauty appears suddenly from an unexpected place, and I'm in the moment (hopefully) capturing it. It's all the nicer when the resulting image fully captures that moment, and in some cases exceeds it by exposing some detail missed in the moment.

Good question! In the old days photos just didn't come across as how I SAW something. My mind sees things differently than my eyes see them. The fun of chimping while snapping is right up there, but the most fun I have is processing the image to try and show what my MIND saw beyond what my eye saw.

For me it's not necessarily the setup or the actual taking of a picture, but the revisiting of these pictures later on an admiring my handy work.

If I had to pick between them though, I guess the setting up of the picture is more appealing to me, as taking the picture is as simple as pressing the button.

I take a lot of early morning (when I get off work) photos, so my most enjoyable time is the setting up and waiting for the light to get right. I do enjoy looking at and sharing the pictures that I take but it's nothing compared to being out there getting ready to shoot.
