What are you listening too right now....

I'd never heard of this group of young Norwegians until now. Their instrumentals and her voice are a spectacular combo. Seems like bluegrass has been a constant even as country music overall has ebbed and flowed. Thanks for introducing me to Hayde Bluegrass Orchestra.

Ya' hooked me!

I am glad you like it. I didn’t know they were Norwegian. My People :cheerful:

I have somewhat eclectic tastes, with a handful of can't stand genres. I like a lot of the old rock I grew up with, some of the newer alternate stuff, as well as some weird stuff like Squirrel Nut Zippers. I keep coming back to the good stuff, however.

People will still be listening to this when they are saying "Elvis who?".

Although I am a classically trained musician, I do enjoy classical music that has a twist to it - kind of like the yesteryear style of Hooked on Classics. ;)

Perhaps you'd like this. And it might also appeal to those who like bluegrass, but are on the fence about classical.

I enjoy classical style guitar as well as fingerstyle but honestly never knew anyone did something similar on banjo. This was great! :)

This one's for @bluzman especially, as it's from the legend in his profile pic. There's a young lady from Japan who's been an absolute blues legend herself for over a decade now, named Shoka Okubo. Aside from her own eponymous band, she's joined any number of famous blues artists on stage both in Japan and elsewhere around the globe.

This clip is from a show they did a while back, but they do a cover of Robert Johnson's "Stop Breaking Down" here (after a cover of Booker T's "Green Onions") so I thought of you:

Dangerspouse, thanks for thinking of me. I thoroughly enjoyed the video. Although the blues is often characterized as American roots music, it's appreciated and played all over the world as mentioned on the "Keeping the Blues Alive" website (founded by Joe Bonamassa) which gave her and the group a shout out a couple of years ago.

Oh man, Joe Bonamassa is one of my all-time fave axe gods. That was cool to see he gave a shout-out, however brief, to Shoka. You're right of course - the blues don't know boundaries. I used to listen to the Putumayo World Music Hour on my commute to work (still working from home as I type this), and when they did their blues shows I was always amazed to see how diverse the groups were that embraced the style. Great stuff!
