And then it shot up, snagged a passing dragonfly, and landed right back on the same spot.

And my battery was dead.

Of course.

And right after that, the day went all to hell. I was on one of the side trails, set up by the path railing, shooting the tit above. A trail bike maniac came sharp downhill around the corner, yelling "Look Out!" I turned, slid in the loose sand and gravel, and went sideways. I caught the rail before going to the ground, but so did the D500, hitting right above the view finder with a loud whack. I got upright and checked the camera. No auto focus, no fstop. I just finished the SquareDeal claim form and am waiting for the shipping label to print.

The rider did not stop, of course.

I was getting caught up and guess I missed this one the other day... Hope you are doing alright. Glad you had insurance on the camera. Hope you get the camera back soon. I will say this added comment. I look at the exif data on shots as I looking at them. It is like a learning tool for me... but I do not really look at the camera used. The photos here demonstrate that it is the guy behind the viewfinder that really makes the difference in a shot. Good stuff wev as always.
