5/52 Theme: Old.
May 10, 1869 the Union and Central Pacific Railroads joined their rails at Promontory Summit, Utah Territory and forged the destiny of a nation.
Golden Spike National Historic Site (U.S. National Park Service)

It is interesting to note that the timber that has a plaque on it, was the exact spot that the two railroads met. Also, you should notice that the timbers that are above (East) the plaque are rough and hand shaped. Whereas, the timbers below (west) the plaque, are straight and with square edges. The timbers that came from the west part of the United States were shaped from a mill. The timbers that came from the eastern part of the United States were hand shaped.

7/52 Theme: Where I Live
I took this shot on Antelope Island which is only 6 miles from my house, so I thought that this would work for the "Where I Live" theme.
The island is most famous for its large bison population. The herd fluctuates between 550 and 700, making it one of the largest publicly owned bison herds in the nation.

Saw the EXIF data on Wendy's "Love" photo and she appears to be sporting some new hardware... D7100 and it's not borrowed from me or the Moab Lady.

8/52 Theme: Coiled
We went to the local Planetarium today. There are many fantastical things that are cool to see at this Planetarium. When I saw this (I'm not sure what to call it) I knew that it would be perfect for the theme "Coiled". It is a light, lamp, toy thingy. There are marbles moving around inside of the contraption. I took shots from different angles, and because it was mounted to the ceiling, above the stairs. the angle was a challenge. However, I liked this shot.

9/52 Theme : Bark
I have an apricot tree in my yard that I grew from a pit. It is always interesting to go out there and see what new and different thing is happening to the tree. There is a lot of lichen on the northern parts of the tree. This shot is on a fork of the tree with an abundance of lichen. I like the different colors that are in this part of the bark and lichen.

This looks like a patch of vegetation in the frozen tundra being undercut by molten lava breaking through crust.
