Have you shot there when the birds are there?
Don, Yes, I have shot birds there. There is a boardwalk that goes for about a mile around the preserve, when I take the walk I always see birds, but I hear more birds than see them. It is a really peaceful place. It is within 2 miles of my house, and easy to access, so I use the Preserve as a background for many shots.

Sometime Wendy, there does not seem to be an appropriate place on the photo to place the watermark, in which case, I just sign my mat. I am wondering if there is a program out there that would place a mat over the photo so that we could better visualize how a mat would look with any given photo. You would think that one of the mat companies like Crescent might have something. I am going to check. What program do you use to simulate your frames?

I use Picasa for the frames. They seem to work better and faster than Photoshop. Of course, I'm still a Photoshop Newbee. One day I will learn an easier way to do the frames in PS.

if you sign the mat ur making it to easy for someone to crop just the picture.
nikonpup, yes, that is exactly what my children told me, "Mom, if you put your watermark on the edges, people can always crop out the watermark." MM said, " I can take the watermark out completely with PS." So either way our photo's are vulnerable to those who want to steal them.

All of my printed photos that have not yet been framed are kept in a secure vault. I only mat a photo when I frame the photo and I treat each photo as an original. When someone buys the photo they are also buying all rights to it. It is then up to them to guard it from theft. I never print one of my photos twice.

Ron, that is a great policy. If we all did that, one day we would all be famous photographers. The prints would be rare and worth more :) So I can always say, "I knew Ron way back when." And I have two of your beautiful prints, so I'll be rich :) LOL
