The ones I shot years ago were with a .243, pretty hot load and I think 95 grain or something like. I believe they hornady's. Geese hard believe it's been 5 years since I have been out. The ones I shot were right a hundred and were one done with one shot. But even that would be the minimal I would use unless they were less weight. Those things are tough and mean as well as fast.
In TX we are overrun and you used to be able to do it for free, then the ranchers turned it into a business and started trapping. The trapping market went belly up and they charge like 300.00 to hunt them, pretty stupid but I guess they have to pay the bills too.
Anyway, the only time I shoot anything anymore is with the camera. Guess someone thought 40 years was long enough for me and wanted me to go another direction.
I know guys use .223 others success, so it really comes down to comfort and shot placement.
Sorry if this post was too descriptive or offends anyone, it was a big part of my life and would never be ashamed of it.
