Are they like our robins in nature,ours would be happy if you started feeding them and would probably get very tame.

That's not a bad idea! I can put a small feeder on the porch. I used to have one there in fact.

I wouldn't suggest a feeder as it would attract other birds and the robin may not like it,just a little food out same time every day until l its feeding young then any time you can be there for pictures.

Our red winged black birds arrived from vacation down south a week or so ago. I love listening to them call to each other during the day

Today I gave my new Pro-optic 2x TC a try. So I put it on my 55-300 and went in the backyard to see how it would do. It was cloudy out so as I expected the AF was going to be hit and miss. Any setting over 150mm on the nikon lenses would not AF. And the image was blurry hand held. Here are the shots I took at full zoom 600mm using a tripod.
