Went on a whale watching trip this week that ended up being more of a water watching trip. It was so calm out in the water and there was a pall of smoke from a bushfire hanging over the Gold Coast. Made for some nice shots of the city from the water

I just love when late winter sun shines on ominous clouds. It makes them even blacker but at the same times makes the greens greener and the golds brighter. The light is just magical and one if those moments in time I just love. It didn't rain sadly coz a rainbow would have just topped off the whole scene

Not something I've ever thought about but the only races I've been to have been run in a clockwise direction around the track. Do they go anti-clockwise over there then?

Yes, they go counter clockwise over here.

My trip down south to visit family. It's a 900km drive and I've never done it alone before so I was a bit apprehensive. It took me 12hrs, so I was well pleased with that. being such a long drive tho I couldn't just stop at all the places I saw that I'd like to stop at otherwise I'd never have got there.

So Day 1 not so many photos, but I did make a very quick stop at the cane mill at Broadwater

I arrived in town just after dark so stopped at the local MacDonalds and took a couple of "Jüst in case" shots from the corner. I don't get to see traffic at night near home so it was a good excuse

Day 2

I drove another 2 1/2hrs down to my sisters house. My mum is in a nursing home close to my sister and my prime objective was to be able to see mum. Just a great co-incidence that my sister is into photography too :D

On the way I drove past my parents old house and the house I lived in when I got married. I'd forgotten about the waterfall just across the road from my old house

I stopped at a lookout called Sublime Point on my way down to my sisters

I also found a garden with some gorgeous proteas

There are great beaches and rock platforms down where my sister lives. I love rockpools with all their little fish and seashells. I could literally spend hours in bliss on the coast there.

This is looking across a childrens paddling pool on the rocks at one of the beaches

A little spot I discovered while visiting my sister. Lived there for most of my younger life and never knew this place existed. It is called kelly's Falls but unfortunately you can't really see the falls thru forest regrowth. Still.....the creek is pretty
