Used lenses from Adorama

I just wish someone would get the Nikon 85 1.8g in so I can order one, everyone is out it seems.
It's in stock at Adorama. And even it weren't you should still be able to order backordered items.

Here's another rec for Adorama. I've spent quite a bit there recently and my stuff came quickly and well packaged. I've never purchased a used lens from them but I wouldn't hesitate if the price were right.

You can order, but I would prefer to know that it's in stock. There is a little note on the site.

Please note: This item is currently back-ordered by the manufacturer. Although we have no estimated time of arrival for this item, you can order it now and it will ship as soon as it arrives. Your card will only be charged once item is shipped.

So the no estimate is true for all sites that I have checked and its unavailable on Nikons site as well.

Why? You said it yourself that everyone is out of stock so you might as well order it now. The sooner you order it the faster you get it. Most respectable stores are probably out of stock because of the recent rebates offered by Nikon and it's a popular lens. I ordered some OOS lenses last month and received them within 2-3 weeks.

Because I prefer to know that it's in stock, they have been out of stock for a while. If you read the comment then they are saying they don't know when it will be in. If I find it then I don't have to worry about trying to cancel a backordered order, thats why.

I am thinking about purchasing used lenses from Adorama. They are significantly cheaper. There are different grading and the lenses that I want are graded D:

Little or no signs of wear.

Anyone have experience with buying used lenses from Adoramo or Cameta?

What did you end up getting? Let us know.

Does Anyone know the difference in buying a "Refurbished" lens vs a "Used" lens with a "D or E+" rating?

Which would be a better deal?

I've never bought a used lens from Adorama but I've heard many good things about them and their customer service.

Depends on price & condition... Typically I buy Refurb when I can as I find the price difference on average between a high rated Used not that great.

Refurb has been factory reconditioned to original specs by Nikon and includes a 90 day Nikon Warranty
Used is just that used, it was checked out at Adorama (graded and "known" issues reported). 90 Day Adorama Warranty

With VIP (Adorama) the warranty on the Refurb is extended to 15 months.

I have purchased both from them. I tend to go refurb if available but also bought a used prime (no refurb available) The used unit looked in new or excellent condition.

I would not have qualms about buying either from them, though I would lean towards Refurb unless a substantial price difference or as I did, when there was no re-furb.
