My Mom is as innocent a soul as you can find, and the idea of how to word a complement has likely never entered her mind. The best part is that if you are the subject of one of her backhanded complements you wear it like a medal of honor because it's more genuine than just about any perfectly worded praise anyone else could ever give you. And it gives you a running joke to share with her the rest of your visit, if not your life.

Great photo, Jake! I've heard your state offers a hot air balloon festival that is jam packed with people attending and is an immensely popular attraction. It's no wonder because they offer rides plus make great photo opportunities. :) How terrific that it landed so close! :cool:

I am so sorry about your dad. At least you captured this moment for your mom. She truly looks like she is happy if only for a short time. My condolence to you and your family during this difficult time.

There's a festival in Readington, which is about 25 minutes from me. As you said, jam packed, with rides and concerts. I've avoided it primarily because getting there almost negates the joy of being there. Plus we always seem to be busy on those weekends. The launch from our county carnival is usually anywhere from 20-35 balloons, which is nice enough. Last night we saw 7 in the air headed towards the house, but the wind blew them too far south too soon, so there were no close encounters.

Welcome back, Jake. I'd like to add my condolences, also. Sounds like you're holding up pretty good, bud. Hang in there. I've been through it too many times myself, and it's never easy. Like Marcel said, time heals all....it just does it at its own pace.

Great shots, Jake. I love the one with your mother and the balloon. That one would be priceless to me. Maybe even a wall hanger? :)

In Albuquerque,n.m. They also have a big air balloon they do every year but don't remember when. I have been wanting to go to it.
Also so happy to see your mom with your help doing as we'll as expected in the time as to what happened.

Street performed and volunteer from Bethlehem Musikfest. Thought about using this for the August contest but decided on a tighter framing of the juggler, even though this shows the full story.
