Table lights for light box

I want to try some things with a light box. I ordered a small (24") box and a nice table top tripod. The lights that are available seem to be 'too hot', 'not enough light', 'bulbs stick out beyond shade' or.....too expensive. Is there a reason I couldn't get by with a desk lamp that has an aim-able hood? I don't need high end equipment for a business or anything. What do you use if you do small lightbox photography? Thanks

I've been looking for something like this as well Laura...
but was never convinced about the best one..
am sure you can work with a regular desk lamp & use something to diffuse the light..
i've done it a couple of times just to see the results & they seem to be good enough.

you can work to get it like this

Laura... I use the lights in that link Amazon.com: Table top studio lighting kit, 5000K daylight bulb: Camera & Photo

When one of the bulbs burned out, I replaced them with a better bulb from Amazon that met the Kelvin 5500 temp range... I threw the cube thing away and bought a plain hinged panel for table top work... with a tube of different colored papers to use as back drop panels with paper clips... Let me know if you want a link... It doesn't matter if the bulbs protrude a bit, the fluorescent bulbs are not hot at all...
