My wife and I are just coming to the end of our holiday and we both only brought mirrorless compacts of sorts. I just brought my Fuji X100T and she brought her new RX100M3.
We got the Sony a couple of weeks ago for her birthday as an alternative to DSLRs for travel. I went for the M3 rather than M4 as it has the viewfinder and represented good features vs cost. I think the M4 was £200 more expensive.
So far she is thrilled with it. The pictures are tack sharp from the Zeiss lens and it exposes perfectly. Coupled with all of the manual control when you want it, this camera is a real powerhouse.
It's not been pushed to its limits yet, but my wife is extremely pleased with it and I'm a little jealous.
I also just brought my X100 this time. It's forced me to learn to use it and appreciate what a fantastic tool it is.
Whilst these cameras will never replace a DSLR for absolute IQ or specialist requirements, they are excellent for this type if use.
