Surprise visitor
She must have snuck in yesterday when the greenhouse vent was open. Poor thing only plants in our greenhouse are the hanging cherry tomatoes which are looking pretty sad with such cool nights

Clinging to the ceiling (notice the fly)

I opened the doors and she flew off. So tiny

Mountains are melting and river is rising. We went for a walk before all the parks get closed
I know blue skies aren't matching colour but I was shooting in different directions so sky is bluer in some. Wish I'd stuck my cpol in my pocket
In the distance is the same bridge I shot from when it was -37C and this river was tiny and steamy

Liked the blue reflection in the flooded woods as we walked

In winter this was a tiny little creek you could walk through without getting your feet wet.

Caught the Rocky Mountaineer sightseeing train as it chugged by on the other side of the river. It travels From Jasper National park down to Whistler (ski town and site of winter olympics 4yrs ago)

Thanx I haven't done much yet. I pulled the battery out of my D7000 and just started shooting. The backwards light meter had to change and took me a bit to figure out how to turn off autofocus the hunting drives me bonkers but so far haven't done anything with checking out new features etc I just stuck it in M and started shooting :) It was a very easy switch

Fuzzy wuzzy was a bear....
DSC_0271.jpg
After softball last night we headed down to the rescue with my horse trailer and wrassled us up some Fuzzies in need of a home. Here they are this afternoon with Belvedere in front of our craptastic chicken fence :)

DSC_0286.jpg
Fighting over who is boss. Belvedere (dark fella) is 22yrs old and spent 18yrs as herdsire before ending up in rescue. New guys are only 4 and 5yrs old
Oh they fight by wrapping their necks around each other, grunting and occasionally spitting at each other so very mellow arguments

Trooper (we think but there were 3 that looked almost identical so she thinks his name is Trooper) but Daughter has started calling him Angel
DSC_0290.jpg DSC_0294.jpg DSC_0320.jpg
Quite the soft mane on him and holy a lot of fibre but not so interested in being held so jumps like a deer LOL Makes things fun. They both have horrendous curled nails that are going to take a lot of work to get trimmed nicely but now Belvedere has some of his own kind to cush with :)

Hey hey hey! How you liking that FX?! This totally caught me by surprise! I didn't know you were thinking of going FX. How are you enjoying it so far?

Lovin it :) Since I mostly just shoot family stuff I'm just doing jpeg. I did Raw + jpeg for the Killdeer shots and found it odd that the Raw actually had better colour?? When I shot Raw on my 7000 it was always duller than the jpeg. Anyways other than the backwards light meter which I quickly changed LOL the controls are much like my 7000. I love my 7000 but 610 is sweet and I'll have even more fun learning once I open that manual I'm sure :) For now I'm going through 610 threads and reading to see what I should learn about first :)

Biggest thing for me was the U1 and U2. It's funny that the RAW looks better? What's your settings on? I would guess natural, but only because it doesn't boost saturation and stuff. So the camera may dumb down the colors for the more natural look.

I had WB in Standard which is what I used on my 7000. IDK thought it really odd but upped sat +1 on SD which is more like what I see with my eyes, +2 seemed too saturated . I'm not creative like most of you guys I just like to capture what I see :)

I never did use U1 or U2 on my 7000 I went from auto to learning the triangle and only shoot M. Sometimes I kick myself and think I should have switched to A or S when needing super quick setting changes but just never think to turn that dial :)

The thing I REALLY love so far is the bigger viewfinder! And well since I have a nice new camera my photos should suddenly become creative and super awesome Right??

New Mom
Saturday morning surprise
DSC_0531.jpg DSC_0532.jpg
Unfortunately ducks do not choose nesting places without background distractions LOL She built her nest under a shelf in my greenhouse and Saturday morning I heard peep peeps. I didn't want to upset and possibly have her step on them as they hid underneath. At this point I had no idea just how many she had in there.

Truly enjoyed seeing these Percherons in this lovely scene. I've photographed them before during other 4-H activities where they were doing draft pulls and pulling the sleigh in the winter. They sure are lovely and powerful
Hmm small upload size really made a it look blah tried a crop (2nd) to show baby and mom better
