Today I felt more like playing with my camera so set up an egg shot like I've seen others do but had to do it a little differently
I'll have to try it again and see if I can get it a bit better

Spring melt
Dirty yucky spring melt. Did I mention how glad I am that I don't live in town....
NIK_4986.jpg

I would hibernate and probably cry if I had to look out my window and see those big piles of yuck in my front yard and in the neighbours yard. Backing out of the driveways I am sure is fun too because driving and watching for people pulling out is fun.
Yes those are actual front yards and this is a main residential street so one of the few actually with bare road

So is there actually grass under there that grows in the summer? Also I see all sorts of something that is not snow in the piles. I have to assume that just gets deposited on the yard as the snow melts.

LOL of course there is grass under that snow haha The brown is the gravel they put down on snow covered streets for traction all winter. Hard packed snow turns to ice so they drop gravel all over it to help with traction. This road is a busy main residential road so it has just been graded and cleared enough to melt but most residential streets are snow covered all winter. #167 is a cul de sac just off this road and as you can see its still snow covered. It is illegal and will get you a hefty fine to shovel or move any snow into a street but those piles will melt and the home owners will get out their rakes and clear all the rocks off the yard and street sweepers will come and clean it up. There will be green grass and pretty gardens in a couple months.

Oh before each mound is an opening and those are driveways :)

This morning on the way to school I noticed a moose not quite ready to start the morning :)
She was still there relaxing when I came back

After dropping the pup to the vet I came back and she was having breakfast

Had enough of being watched and headed up the hill to probably to hang out in the Francophone school yard :)

Only brought my 35mm today . I only ever come across moose when I've forgotten my camera or they're hiding in the dark.

Been missing the horses lately. Glad to see them again. The eggs look like they are ready for Easter.

Yes That's true Don. On the chicken eggs the hens put a whitish coating which is most visible on the brown eggs and it protects the eggs from contamination. Clean unwashed eggs from properly cared for hens can last a LOOONG time. I just found 2 duck eggs at the back of my fridge which would have been from Aug last year (7mnths old!) and I cracked them open out on the snow and they were perfectly fine.
