Hmmm. My issue is kind of different. When I use the center focus point on my D800. It focuses perfectly. It is only when I use my extreme right focus point in camera. It front focuses. So I'm not sure if it can be fixed using fine tune adjustment in cam. Sigma dock I'm not sure how it works though.

I didn't try all the apertures but even at f8, the focus derived by the extreme right focus point is off when I compared it to the focus derived by the center focus point.

I remember reading of this issue specifically with the D800. Do a search, I think you will find a lot of info, I'm not sure if the dock was able to help or it was just the paring of the two.

Thank you very much Rick. Will definitely look into it further. Worse case scenario, gotta travel all the way to Sigma and have it calibrated to my d800.

I think you are right Rick, there were cases where there was one side that would not focus like the middle one or the other side.

How do you like the lens otherwise? Besides the occasional autofocus misfire at f1.4, I find it to be amazing.

The sharpness wide open. No complaints. There will be vignetting. However, one won't regret getting it. And the focus is 100% accurate when I'm using the center focus. The inaccurate focusing happens only when I'm using the right portion of the focus points

Does your right focus point work well with other lenses? 50 1.8? Zoom ?

"Portrait" shot. Relatives came over and they wanted some pics of the kids. Of course it's Thanksgiving and the last thing I wanted to do was set up the portable studio. So I decided to just set up a background and see what I could do with just ambient light and no flash/studio lights. While 35mm is not what we want to use for such a shot, I needed the speed.

Here's a shot at f2, this is also a 50%+ crop.

I was pretty pleased since it is little more than a snapshot. The background was directly behind her yet was able to throw it out of focus at f2. This is why I'm holding out for the 24-70 f2 from sigma.
