Re: Scott's Australian Walkabout

Ok decided to use my Lee filters and CP and 0.6 Grad filter today, I think they turned out well and all shots are handheld.

This is my mate Rhyse, he is a Pentax user.

That just looks soooooooooo nice. I'd be quite happy to be swagging it out there Scott. Lucky you!!

So!....what didn't you like about the variable ND filter? If you already have some Lee filters I am surprised you didn't go for a Big Stopper

The variable has light leakage and leaves an X across the image most times. I am going to raise it with the store and see what they have to say about it.

They ALL (ie circ variable ND's) leave a X over the shot at the extremes. It is to do with how they are made ( I THINK 2 polarised glass pieces that rotate against each other to darken/lighten).

Light leakage? You get light leakage in thru your viewfinder on long exposures in daylight. You have to cover the viewfinder. There should have been a little cap for that in with you camera when you bought it.

I had my viewfinder closed, I figured the X was due to light leakage.

Great shots Scott.

Not so good news about the variable filter after I have just bought one! Haven't tested mine yet. Was hoping to get out today and may still get an opportunity once I have finished all I have to do.

I spoke to my photography club members and they all said to allow for cropping as you invariably get this sort of degrading with variables.

Those pools look amazing. Good fun too by the looks of things.

Lets hope yours is better.

I went out again today on another 6km return hike with two girls that I know. Was hot humid and lots of fun.
