.....let me tell you what I think about the camera. Nikon D7000 is a phenomenal camera. It is the best DX camera Nikon has produced to date.

That I don't believe. I still think the D300 is superior to the 7000

Well at least that's one thing you and Anthony have in common! LOL!! :)

I guess mansurov should have defined what he meant by "best" DX camera. The well established facts are that if you are talking about buffer size, AF performance and ergonomics (personal opinion on that one) - then yes, the D300/s is superior to the D7000. However if we're talking high ISO performance, dynamic range and overall image quality then the nod would go to the D7000.

People get a bit uptight about camera comparisons (not saying you are! :)) but frankly the D300/s and D7000 are all great cameras and no matter which one a person uses they won't be disappointed. What a person values most to them will be what counts so there is no absolute choice between those cameras - as with most things in life "it depends". If a person needs faster and slightly more accurate AF with better buffer performance, then the D300/s is the way to go - otherwise there really isn't a compelling reason (in my opinion) to choose it over the D7000. YMMV.

PS. I really enjoyed looking at the many shots you have of cars drag racing on your site! Excellent.

I agree, there is no outright 'best'. When I was looking used 300s looked very good value and only a few used D7000 around, same price as I got a new one.

The determinant for me was the size, I am old and small and vow that if it won't fit in my LowePro TLZ 2 (no longer produced) holster it is not coming on my journeys. The D7000 does with 80-400VR fitted, 18-135 in the pocket with remote etc and occasionally canon 500D close-up ring. The downside is that all the controls are far too close together.

I must admit I currently have a built 97 Mustang GT or it least it started as a GT now it's a bit of a hybrid between a GT and Cobra with mixed parts and better performance :) Just like some camera's are perceived by their owners as better than others. I believe my Mustang is better than most any Camaro or Challenger or Charger ;) -- Now for camera's I think it's all how you see and capture that. Look at what Wendy (aka - wrobledo) does in the Project 365 with her compact camera!!!!

@RickSawThat Nice ride bro, must be a chick magnet. Really like the 5star rims. is it just the photo or is that a carbon fiber hood? i i cant see the carbon scaling on it but sweet contrast.

Carbon fiber hood is correct. Tires = 315's in the rear and 285's in the front ;) Actually girls don't like it so much -- too much muscle (loud too) - but guys appreciate it.

HAHA, my Dad always said " On a quiet night , you can hear a Ford rust" I never understood the rivalry but it has seemed to carry over into DSLRs ;)

This is nice. My Husband has a 2003 Cobra, Which is having some VERY EXPENSIVE MODS DONE TO IT.. lol.. He has his expensive hobby and well I now have a very expensive Hobby/ wants it to be a job. He's a member on several mustang websites. If you are on any of those like svt, and corral.net.

And OOPS.. I keep reading about the Back focus issues and what not and then I keep reading about some firmware update and what not. Where do I find out if I have the back focus issue and firmware update. I got my Camera at Christmas time last year! Would I have any of these issues and would the camera be already updated and what not?

Yeah, I hear Nikon is good with their customer service. :D

I have one of those faulty D7000s.... I just got it back yesterday from Nikon (One week turn around) to fix the back focusing issue. It seems to be working great!!, and the photos seem sharp!! I havent really had time to use it a bunch, but the photos just simply look better than they did before. I got the camera last september however, and it took me a while to really tell that there was a problem with it. I love this camera though, seriously, I wouldnt trade it. If this doesnt fix it, Ill just send it back again....

Hope this helps

Well my car and camera are my hobbies and obsessions. I have a d5100 and do not seem to have focus issues. I was concerned too after reading all the websites before getting the camera. I think much of the issue is just learning to use the camera vs. any problems with the camera. Check out my pics on the project 365 and daily post forum in this site (ricksawthat) I'm happy with my camera and the choice to get it and would buy it again if that helps you in your decisions.

Hope your husband has a ball with his 03 Cobra.

Oh he has already.. He's just um.. hoping to get 1000 rwhp out of it.. Yeah. I like this stuff as well D7K is my first dslr camera.. I got it as a gift from my parents. I kinda knew before hand because my mom had to ask me what I liked better a Nikon or a Cannon. and I said Nikon just because of the history behind the company.
