Actually looks like a black-chinned -- they have that wide white collar beneath the gorget. Did you see any color on the top of its head? I have seen a few at Yorba, but they are pretty rare.
no, it was flying at the top of a tree while it old guy was on with AAA, i lost it after i shot, noticed the SS was to slow , corrected it and it was gone.
i meet an old birder and a young guy taking pics today, he had a D810 and the 200-500 nikkor, impressive looking lens, he also had a 500F4, WOW, i should have asked him could i attach it to my camera to try it. He did say its just a little better than his 200-500 but a lot lighter.
