thanks Steve, it was the 18-105 on my D60, thats my weekday camera. wish i had the 55-300 on the D7000, a hawk was flying around, just too far away and a few planes too.

DAY 56, only 309 to go.....

i tried the stars again with my 18-105, set at 18mm f10 iso 100 and 20 sec, i dont know what is going on in pic two, clouds and a plane??

i think the reddish star in the top left hand corner is jupiter?

thanks Don, i found it hard to manually focus (1st time) so i wasnt to sure what i was getting, i still need to get out away from the lights, that was taken from my driveway.

that is my problem here. I live near a large city with lots of light pollution. I have tried to use the Dark Sky Finder but the dark places near me that I have gone ti visit during the day have to many trees or no access to a clear safe place to shoot.

i'll just keep practicing in the yard till i get better, then i will venture to mount san jacinto early some morning

Thanks Lee, i have no idea, i wasnt even looking, one of my cats was looking some attention so i was facing away from the camera

DAY 57, only 308 to go,

i went to look at the hawks nest tonight, both birds were there sitting on different trees, (must of had a lovers tiff), i dont see anything moving in the nest, not a great night for shooting it got pretty gray, saying its going to rain for the next few days??

DAY 59,

with all the much needed rain we are getting i took a few of my fish tank, my keyhole cichlid, mr and mrs kribensis and a golden zebra loach.
