You've got some great wildlife shots there Roy :D I loved the little gophers (?) :D Let us know how you find the back-button focussing. Everyone seems to rave about it. I'm not ready to see what the fuss is all about yet for myself, but I'd be interested to hear how you are finding it as a new user.

Hey Roy.
I really enjoy your thread for all the great bird shots in here, and wild life in general.

...also, it looks like your fish tank is coming along nicely? :)

@Vixen i thought they were squirrels? its seems ok, still trying to focus with the front button now and again, defo a plus for stationary subjects, lock the focus and shoot away, again i couldnt find a moving bird tonight, tried cars for the focus but didnt shoot.
@nidding turned the lights out every other day and it has done the trick, cant explain that??

In your first shot, ( great shot BTW) is that a road for cars? i would have loved to get on that road, and take a shot where the road is in the middle of the image leading towards that big mountain. I can just see that shot in my mind right now.

Algae are not good at surviving without light (well, for most parts...), and the same goes for cyano bacteria. Plants are better at surviving for some time without light, as they have the ability to store more energy to survive. This makes a 'lights out period' a really effective cure for algae issues. A lot of people have had good effect by turning the lights out for 3 days. The plants look a little sad after that, but the algae has gone. However to avoid future algae problems its a good idea to remove excess nutrients from the wayer, for example by making regular water changes :)
Well, this was a pretty big deroute from your thread. Hope you don't mind :)

Nice scenery btw :)

the foster child we have got a bruise on his leg, my wife said it came from his recent shot, so out comes the CPS and we get an investigation, all clear now as the Docs said it was a reaction to his shot, so this is all i got today.

.

this one has fail all over it, it was at sunset, behind a large group of trees, shutter speed is at 15, and at 500mm handheld, would be ok if it was a rare subject.
