Watching the Rhody's but it is still a good little time before they bloom. My 60mm micro has pretty much supplanted my nifty 50 as my primary prime. it is just so much more versatile._AAA7193 - Version 2.jpg

Before my Easter Lily fades away I thought I would take one more run at it._AAA7326 - Version 2.jpg

At the apartment complex across the street was this odd little flower. It has the stems of a tulip but it is flat as a pancake. have not seen unlike this before._AAA7320 - Version 2.jpg

I guess it isn't a secret any longer. :)
Well, I do not use gps location tracking on my camera and even if you could follow me down the remote access road that leads to the trail that leads to the grove, I very much doubt you could track me thru the dense woods that leads to my tree. My tree. In addition, you are talking to someone who's motto is "Loose lips, sinks ships" But I will be happy to share "my" photos with you:cool: Just sayin

Exactly. This park dates to the 1890's and like many Victorian era parks there was a trend to bring exotic species from other locations and climates to the park. It is wonder that this tree adapted and survived. I am told there are a least 2 more in the park but I have not been able to find them. The terrain is very steep and many areas of the park have been neglected, so I feel blessed to have located these 2 trees. One ,an older one and one a sapling. I have chased the big leaf magnolia down the Blue Ridge Parkway but the trees that I came across were too tall to get a photo of their blossoms. I would have needed one of those long zooms the birders use. and still would have only been photographing the underside of the bloom. Of Course any Nikonites would be welcome to trek with me to visit and photograph my tree.

Continuing with my trip to the Phipps i was most struck with the greenery I saw, as opposed to just the flowers. So many beautiful hues and textures._AAA7680 - Version 2.jpg

The weekly check of my Magnolia tree shows that the leaves are mostly now unfurled and getting bigger. Soon i will have to check twice a week to not miss the the blossoms._AAA7718 - Version 2.jpg
