Cake? what cake? No one offered me any cake. That just goes to show you wht I know about weddings. The next time I will skip the photo shoot and crash the reception. I wonder if they had ice cream too. ?

All the good ones do. I usually look for the kid's table; they like silly jokes and generally share better than adults -- though there is seldom an open bar.

Finally got out today for one-half of an hour and while stalking the neighborhood for something to photograph I spied thru a back fence a sight that is rare to Pittsburgh, a flock of wild flamingoes. Risking arrest for trespass I went down someones sidewalk. leaned over a fence and got a quick snap of this phenomena._AAA4694 - Version 2 - 2015-04-05 at 18-48-30.jpg

You found more then I've ever seen in the wild Ron. Too bad you didn't find them when there was snow on the ground.

Okay, let's talk framing. You make your best effort to get the photo, you sweat bullets over the edit, you agonize over the size of print and the aspect and you finally get it the way you like it. Now you have to decide on how to print it; either sending out or printing it yourself. You need to select the paper, and finally out pops a print.
Now a whole other raft of questions arise. How should it be mounted? Do I need a mat? What color and size does the mat need to be? Will I have the photo displayed under glass? What kind of glass? How big should the frame be and what should it look like?
It is why, at the end of the day, many of us like a wee dram of whiskey.
I have been lucky enough to acquire a print of Wendy Thorson's "Lily" and I was determined to do it justice. I wanted to compliment the photo without overpowering it and have the decor of the frame match that of the room where it will later reside. I will leave you all to decide wether or not I succeeded.View attachment 144952

Wendy had the print mounted, on rigid foam, I added a silk mat in a light rose beige with gold caming and a bright gilded frame. The glass is non-glare conservation glass, and I kept the frame narrow to minimize it's impact. It is, after all, all about the photo. The mat, the glass, and the frame are just gift wrapping.

Very nice job of framing. However, the flowers sitting in front of the picture throws off the entire "look" for me...

Fascinated with this silly IPhone camera and keep trying to coax a decent photo out of it. It does alright within it's limitations, but===FullSizeRender - Version 2 - 2015-03-21 at 15-33-17.jpg

Its probably better at taking pictures than your D7000 is at making phone calls :D
Maybe we could get Apple to address that problem. On the other hand, I am more interested in taking photos than I am in making telephone calls. The telephone is simply a necessary evil.

Still unable to get out with the D7000, but had to go to store for another prescription and spotted a display of flowers on sidewalk still wet from brief shower. Think this shot is a little better.FullSizeRender - Version 2 - 2015-04-08 at 18-52-03.jpg

Finally well enough to take the D7000 out for a few minutes and spotted a lily at the apartment building next door._AAA4701 - Version 2 - 2015-04-09 at 17-03-16.jpg

After using the D7000 I pulled out the cellphone just to get a comparative shot and then edited both photos approx. the same.IMG_0168 - Version 2 - 2015-04-09 at 16-57-02.jpg

Okay, real basic question, bearing in mind that my cell phone has a rotary dial -- if the phone rings while you are taking a picture, do you answer first or shoot?

Always shoot first. most phone calls are not necessary. Let's keep our priorities straight here.
