After Montezuma Castle, we continued North to Flagstaff but left the Interstate on Rte 179 up to 89A through Sedona!! All I can say is WOW!! What gorgeous countryside.

Was 89A north of Sedona, still a nightmare of road construction? It sure was in early May when we went through there. We had to hurry through Sedona to get through before they closed the road for the night. As a result, I didn't even dare stop to take any photos.

Brent, It was not too bad... there were a couple sections that created some havoc but most was not too bad...

One of our sidetrips from Flagstaff.... Winslow AZ... Winslow achieved national fame in 1972 in the Eagles / Jackson Browne song “Take it Easy” which has the line “standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona.

Back to the Vacation.... Leaving Flagstaff, we decided to skip the Interstate and took US 89 North up to Utah... So glad we did..

Sites included backside of North Rim, Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Dam.... some beautiful scenery that many miss because they only ride the Interstates..

Continuing on through Idaho (West Yellowstone) and then heading to Livingston Montana..

Spent a couple days in Livingston Montana. Beautiful little town, some great scenery, met an old friend who lives there now and it served as our gateway to Yellowstone.
