Along Highway 90 Southbound to Huachuca City, Sierra Vista and Fort Huachuca AZ...

Visited here on our Epic Vaca this year. I was stationed at Fort Huachuca in the 70's and lived in Huachuca City.

I worked behind the "Motor Pool" at the AMSA 18 shop. It was an Army Reserve shop with the tanks and armoured personnel carriers ,etc.
I lived in Tucson and commuted 70+ miles one way, every day.

When you passed through Willcox and the big rocks at Texas Canyon, you weren't more than 10 or so miles from me as the crow flies.

Oh wow, who would have thunk!! :) I wish I had an old map of the area from those days.... There was no Walmart and we had to travel 70 miles to get to a Kmart (Tucson). We lived in a trailer park in Huacucha City.

Ha! As you found out, Sierra Vista is not the same small town as it was in the 1970's. It has grown and really spread out. Huachuca City was always a speed trap dropping off of the hill as you entered from the north. Get a ticket and go straight, as in being escorted to court so they could collect the fine. Ha!
