Day 83 - March 24rd, 2013 Part 2

Ok, I did go to Manchester... but no photo's I circled the airport but there was no real activity at that time so I headed back out to Merrimack.

Took the highway and then jumped off by work and stopped by Horseshoe Pond.

Spotted some birds ...

Back to work today...

Sunrise from the parking lot on my way in... and a shot in the back room ...

Day 86 - March 27th, 2013...

A bird in a tree and a bush near a pond....

Then he just meandered on the other side of the pond...
I could have used another 100 - 150 mm (used a 300)

The little guy is a downy woodpecker. We have them all over the place around here. There was one that had a field day last year with one of our maple trees. They are cool, little birds. They look similar to the hairy woodpecker, but they are smaller and their beak is not as long.

Thanks Barb! I knew he was a "small" woodpecker but did not know the kind...

Thanks Don! It was funny, I was parked at the embankment watching a couple ducks when he flew up ... startled me, he was only 20 yards away but with motion could not get a focus as the camera picked up the trees.. then he was clear adn I could get a shot but he was across the pond... Had I seen him below me I could have gotten a really good shot or two..

I will go looking for him tomorrow!! :)

On the way down to Boston, I spotted a couple photo ops and stopped on the way home at each of two locations...

A local farm... tractor and old style gas pump...
