I pick a lens for the day quite often. Mainly for the places I go a lot like the Zoo. I will only carry one lens and shoot it. I think doing that makes you work harder to get good shots. i know it makes me think. The zoo last week I carried the 18-105, this week it was the 55-200. I will carry the 40mm macro next time. I think everyone should try that once in a while.

Last time I went to the zoo, I had only the 55-300.. That was a good zoo lens.. I could probably do ok with the 18-105 but I do believe that a 40mm macro would be tough! :) I am going to try and do that once a week with my daily's... head out ot work with only one lense.

Very good strategy! This way, you're right, one learns to work a shot: turn around it,
compose in an other way, etc. Consequently you develop an eye for the lens you have,
being more intimate, you get more spontaneous in you choices…
Yes, yes… very good strategy!

Have a good time!

Thank you Kodiak!! I was just telling Don, I may start doing that once a week, pick a lens and head out with it for the day.. It will help me learn my lens but as you pointed out, it also will work to improve my "eye" and composition skills, forcing me to avaluate, think and move more to get a shot!

I will have a good time, I love learning! Good day my friend!

Day 214 - August 2nd, 2013....

TGIF - Thank goodness its Friday! I apologize but I did it again, and it was not intentional! :) All pictures again were with the Macro lens... I started with the macro on the camera, gonna try some night/low light as I was going in to work early... then after I would switch to the 55-300 and grab some people shots in the park etc... Well, that never happened as I never did get enough time off work to make it to the park...

So... Macro again!!

Still dark out, had to stop for gas so tried these 2....

Day 214 - August 2nd, 2013.... Part 2...

Due to having to run out in the am for getting some routine blood work... and so so busy at work, I only had 15 minutes to "escape". I left the macro on and shot over to Horsehoe Pond to see about catching some dragonflys or other items..

No luck there... DF's were way off shore area and it was windy so no other insectial critter types... I was there so took what I could find (without insects)

There was a decent blue sky with nice clouds... so I shot the pond.. (missed my 18mm at this point! ) :)
spotted this spiny weed off in the marsh edges...

Spotted these guys on the other side of the boat ramp..

DSC_2043.jpg DSC_2040.jpg

made the shots I could with the lens I had in the time allowed... It was a good learning drill!

Hello Pat,

First time? Ok.

The boys are with me and we are looking at your takes… I don't think they want to
be serious…

which finger came up after Pat took the picture? #1 /Olivier =)

…but I want to be!

#5 perfect composition and timing! not "frozen" enough…

#4 #6 #7: crop too tight!

Have a good time!
