Lov ethat one. Looks nice romantic. It says to me: I just bloom for you".

Pat, now you're using your D7100 for several time. If you know compare it to your D5100 what is the improvement and would you buy it again?

Michael,

No regrets on the 7100... It is so much more in all aspects!! I really like it, build quality, low light function, image quality, features and "speed" in adjusting settings once you get used to it.

I kept my 5100 as a backup and as much as I love the 7100, that 5100 still takes some mean kick butt photos!... I am glad that I went ahead (or the wife did!) and got teh 7100 over the 7000... (that is not to knock the 7000, great camera and probably would have done me just fine.

Day 212 - July 31st, 2013....

Ok, today is hodgepodge day... I took 2 lens (normal) but what I took was not.. My new Macro and my Tokina 12-24 Wide. What did I make of that mess???

Macro - Flower and a Carbon electrode at work...

Pat, you have the d5100 and d7100 listed and I'm curious which camera you prefer/use for those nice shots above? You have some incredible resolution with the macro shot and the dragon fly! Nice shots all around.

Hello Nate,

Those were taken with the D7100, which is clearly my favorite. I hung on to the 5100 as a backup and since I was keeping the len's. the value was not that great. I do use them both but predominately I use the 7100. I will grab the 5100 to keep my hand in and I also have the tripod plate on the 5100 and usually my 55-300 mounted. I will grab the 5100 when out on my patio with the long lens in case I see a bird, critter or plane to shoot.

I have some great shots with the 5100 by the way!! It is a great camera but the build quality and features along with ease of adjusting all go to the 7100... along with the image quality...

Thanks Rick & Alan... I had taken one a little bit ago and was looking down the barrel more but with the ultra wide, it distorted to look like it was pointing down... I knew I could do better so I went back yesterday with that expressed intent and I was pleased with the result... Glad that you guys also liked it.

Thanks again...

Day 213 - August 1st, 2013....

Wow, August is here already... Today, I took only one lens... The Sigma 105 Macro... Interesting to shoot the whole day with only one specialized lens..

5:45, leaving for work... light is "dim"
Raindrops on Goldwing, Moth on my house...

Interesting to use a single lens for the day.... helps you to learn the capability of that lens...

Enjoy and Have fun Shooting!

I pick a lens for the day quite often. Mainly for the places I go a lot like the Zoo. I will only carry one lens and shoot it. I think doing that makes you work harder to get good shots. i know it makes me think. The zoo last week I carried the 18-105, this week it was the 55-200. I will carry the 40mm macro next time. I think everyone should try that once in a while.

Very good strategy! This way, you're right, one learns to work a shot: turn around it,
compose in an other way, etc. Consequently you develop an eye for the lens you have,
being more intimate, you get more spontaneous in you choices…
Yes, yes… very good strategy!

Have a good time!
